We are so proud of our newly painted whare!
Our kaiako took inspiration of painting our whare red and black as acknowledgement and respect for our local Hoani Waititi marae which is situated in Glen Eden.
According to Maori the colour red symbolises the female element…Red is Papatuanuku, the Earth Mother, the sustainer of all living things.
Having our own whare is our way of making connection to our local marae and community. Our tamariki often use our whare, as a place for connecting with one another, a place for gathering in large or small groups, a place to korero / talk, a place where they know and feel they have the right to belong.
This is our “whare”!
