Letter "D" -- Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Our Kārearea group had been learning about the letter D.

And today we introduced them to Dragon fruit. The round pink soft fruit is vibrant in colour and contains loads of vitamin C and antioxidants it is low in sugar and carbohydrates making it a bona-fide superfood. Our tamariki tried the fruit first, they all liked the taste, but loved that it turned their tongue bright pink. We were now going to have it in a smoothie, but what were we going to drink out of...

Better make some dragon cups!

Our tamariki got right to it, cutting colourd paper for tails and spikes, they look great. Now time to make the smoothie, taking turns to put on the ingredients in. We used banana, blueberries, soy milk and of course dragon fruit.

It was the most amazing colour! And a big hit with everyone.
