Preparing to celebrate Chinese New Year

Lunar New Year (also known as Chinese New Year) will be celebrated on Sunday, January 22,2023.

As with many winter solstice celebrations, the symbolic darkness of night is banished by the light of fireworks, lanterns, and candles. Man-made paper lanterns are hung by the hundreds in public areas, bringing good luck to the new year.

Today, we have made lanterns and firework paintings.

We have had a fun painting technique for our tamariki. The painting technique used in the fireworks craft that we have sharing last week. It is perfect for tamariki who to have a go at creating their own fireworks picture. We talked about colors, size!!They all very concentrated on their work!! Kai pa!
